| Waters off Makaha, Makua Valley
This broad area is past the urban centers of Oahu. This area in recent years attracted "eco-tourism" business due to the presence of spinner dolphins in these waters. This area is also adjacent to Ohikilolo Valley. |
Notes Makua Military Reservation is the US Army's infantry and artillery live fire training range. It should go without saying that entry to the valley is absolutely prohibited, and an unexploded ordnance hazard. DO NOT ENTER.

It is unknown whether this land formation is a matte painting, or real. It is possible, but not confirmed, that the scene was horizontally flipped, depicting landforms similar to this area near Makaha. If not flipped, the background could be elsewhere. |

Note the yacht on the horizon above Sawyer's shoulder. |

The same view, but from the opposite side of the two points visible (one is LahiLahi Pt.) in the screencap. Kaena Point, the westernmost tip of the island of Oahu, is at top left. |

A view from the correct side, but the incorrect angle too far to the left, obscuring the smaller point, shown in the photo below: |

A boat view of Makua Valley from the water. This is a summertime view, when the vegetation is drier and browner than in the rainier winter season. Makua Military Reservation is the US Army's infantry and artillery live fire training range. It should go without saying that entry to the valley is absolutely prohibited, and an unexploded ordnance hazard. DO NOT ENTER. A photo taken from land, at the approximate location of where the statue would be. |
||||
![]() Makua Valley is actually two valleys in a heart shape that share a mouth. The ridgeline behind the statue is the ridge between the two valleys. |
The terrain is noticeably drier in the summer as compared to the rainy winter season. |
