Directions:
The nearest access to the bay is on Kamehameha Hwy (83) just little more than 1 mi west (toward Hale'iwa) of the entrance to Turtle Bay Resort. However there is a no-trespassing sign. The nearest alternate access is far away. Therefore we investigated by reading the excellent guidebook, Oahu Revealed by Wizard Publications (by the way, we highly recommend their series of travel guides for any of the Hawaiian islands). They determined the access land is listed by the county as a park, but actually it is owned by Turtle Bay Resort. According to the book, the security of the resort stated to them that as a policy, they in fact do allow the public to disregard the signs in order to use the access path to the beach.
Notes:
Kawela Bay has also been used for the filming of Joe vs. the Volcano and Magnum, P.I.
