CANNABIS WORK FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES

Reputable health institutions have discovered that cannabis has been used by different people around the world for some time. In fact, the research suggested that people have been using this product for the treatment of health issues for a minimum of three millennia. However, one of the challenges that this product faces is the approval of the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Up until the year 2018, cannabis was never approved by the FDA as an official prescription for any health issue. In fact, currently, it is still approved only for treating some forms of epilepsy. However, this does not negate the fact several people depend on the use of CBD (a type of cannabis) for medical purposes.

In fact, you can almost attribute the surge of the cannabis industry to its many medical benefits.

Medical Application of Cannabis

When cannabis is used for medical purposes as prescribed by a pharmacist, it is referred to as “medical cannabis”. Although many physicians prescribe these products in treating health issues, we are still somehow in the dark as to how this product works to relieve some ailments.

However, there is tons of evidence from research and testimonies from users, that cannabis helps in relieving muscle spasms and in chronic pain management. Very little and almost insignificant evidence highlights the positive effect of cannabis on nausea from chemotherapy, insomnia, and boosting appetite for people with HIV/AIDS.

Many physicians go as far as recommending cannabis as an alternative medical approach for the treatment of glaucoma, anorexia, migraine, and arthritis. They recommend this approach when they feel their patient is not responding to standard treatments. Click here for more info.

We are not yet certain when the United States will approve the use of cannabis as an official treatment for all the ailments that it addresses. We will keep our fingers crossed until then.

The Benefits of Cannabis for Medical Issues

Here are a few implications of cannabis of several medical ailments:

  • Vomiting & Nausea: As stated earlier, a few pieces of evidence point to the fact that cannabis can help in the treatment of nausea and vomiting that is induced by chemotherapy. This is a considerable alternative medicine approach to patients that are proven not to respond to an official medical approach. Some research indicates that a lot of traditional antiemetics are not as effective in managing this condition as cannabis. However, it is important to know that when cannabis is used excessively it will eventually lead to vomiting and nausea. Medical research also shows that cannabis has a negative long-term effect on children despite its potential in treating this ailment. Hence it is advisable that children do not take this product.

  • Pain Management: This is another benefit of cannabis. The human body has a default mechanism for managing pain. This mechanism is often referred to as TCS (Endocannabinoid System). This system is triggered when the body perceives pain as it operates through the aid of neurotransmitter receptors. Cannabis also helps in managing pain by interacting with the ECS for better results.

In conclusion, the many medical benefits may influence the decisions of the right authorities for approval someday. At least, we hope it will.
