The motel lobby actually has two entrances, one to the outer driveway, and one to the inner courtyard. This view reveals that the door Kate entered from is the inner lobby door, not the external one.

Directions:
From downtown Honolulu or Waikiki, take H1 West, then take the Likelike Hwy (63) off. Continue on Likelike through the mountain tunnels, then move to the right lane. Take the Kahekili exit. Continue straight on Kahekili as it becomes Kamehameha Hwy (83). After many miles, La'ie Inn is to your left immediately after the Polynesian Cultural Center and the McDonald's.
Notes: La'ie Inn is near the Polynesian Cultural Center, the BYU Hawai'i campus, and the LDS Hawai'i Temple. Nearby hiking and snorkeling is also available.
