Amy's Place

Chinatown's hard-boiled Hotel Street district has many small bars, lounges, clubs and other dives, such as the surprisingly friendly Amy's Place.

Amy's place is in the Chinatown distict of downtown Honolulu at the corner of Hotel St. and Smith St. Note that if you are driving, there are no cars allowed on Hotel St. as it is reserved for city buses only! There is an entrance to Amy's place on Hotel St., as well as a back entrance on Smith St. There is street parking as well as several municipal parking structures which are served by city meters. One is at the corner of River St. and N. Nimitz Hwy., another is on Smith St. two intersections oceanside of Amy's Place. A full list of municipal parking lots is available here. On the first friday of every month, area art galleries have an open house, so the neighborhood is lively and crowded, and later at night the clubs on Hotel St. and nearby fill with revelers.

The outdoor domestic disturbance scene in 2x08 Collision is in the alley just outside the back entrance on Smith St. past the tattoo parlor, as pictured in the title photo. Note the buildings across the street are similar to those seen outside the apartment window of the boyfriend in Claire's flashbacks, so that filming location is actually in the second floor apartment above Amy's Place.

Note the two televisions, exit sign, partitions, and frames on the wall.

Ask the proprietess Amy to show you the Lost poster in the back right wall of the room. The exit sign back right leads to Amy's Place's Smith St. side entrance.

The doorway and the details on the upper wall may be matched to the previous photo, above right.

Note the (closed) front entrance door to the right, the square frames on the walls, the pool table at far right, and the right edge of the glowing jukebox to the left of Ana-Lucia.
The Hotel St. entrance to Amy's Place at night. The door to the left is the entrance to the Hotel St. apartment. On the first friday of every month is the First Friday Artwalk in the Chinatown art and club district. The area attracts thousands of pedestrians as local galleries open for the evening, and all of the local clubs in the area along Hotel St., as well as other nearby locations such as Indigo's Restaurant are bustling late into the night. For more information on First Friday events and parking, see the Honolulu Chinatown website.
Chinese New Year celebration parade
The entrance to Amy's Place is visible at center background. If you are in Honolulu near mid February, check out the Chinese New Year's festivities. The festival usually begins on the 3rd Friday, culminating with a parade and street festival on Saturday. See the calendars at the Honolulu Chinatown and Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
