Taking Pravda to the DHARMA "Omega" Station

We had arrived from one island, and found ourselves immersed on THE Island.



Backtracking about 10 minutes though, here is a short photo narrative.



The trail takes you through the jungle far below the H3 Hwy above:





Val, the Pravda reporter, was the first to spot something through the brush. It was very far away, and here the photo is zoomed in. It was very large, whatever it was.





After about 10 more minutes we got a much clearer view, and there could be no doubt that this was the structure we had seen in the satellite imagery of Google Maps.





A little closer.





Up close it was really huge. But it looked nothing like the Hydra Station. The scene must have been filmed from the opposite side.







If you click on the thumbnail and view the larger image, the size of the staircase on the left shows the sheer scale of the structure.



At this point, turning around, this is the view of the highway above through the tunnels from the other side of the island. This is what the view looked like.





Traveling around to other other side, things became more promising. In fact, it was an exact match, and the DHARMA Hydra symbol was still there. The front doors were nowhere to be seen.









It was inky pitch black inside. The following photograph was taken from inside out toward the front door. The camera flash makes it look well lit, but it was very spooky and very large inside with mysterious hulking shadows of machinery in the far edges of the undefined room, much darker than even the screencap.











Well the darkness continued inward through several doorways. We were happy and satisfied and about to leave, but just to take a peek, we ventured a bit further with flashlights, stepping over broken glass and twisted metal on the bare concrete. And guess what we found in the pitch dark inkiness?















Room 23. There was even the refrigerator-style handle. We turned it and peeked inside. No Karl, but this was definitely the same room where they filmed that Clockwork-Orange-like scene with Karl.











And here's a wider view of the room from a second floor balcony in the pitch darkness. You can see Room 16 to the right and the entrance doorway and room with the big machinery we came from is to the right. Following the left side leads an office entrance on the opposite side exterior of the building that we first encountered with the long staircase.







We took some more photos, then soaked in the feeling. We really were on the island. It was no longer Omega Station but HYDRA station. We'll post more matching photos and a 360 degree virtual reality panorama soon.



We soaked in the Ko'olau mountains and just stared at the Hydra Station. Val from Pravda was flushed with happiness, as if his whole trip had come to this moment. Darn, I should have charged him money, it was his Pravda expense account anyways! Oh well. Finally we bid adieu.

We headed down the path to the rear, and it met up with the first trail again at a fork near the trailhead. I took Val to a few more places already listed on Lost Virtual Tour, but we'll just have to wait for his full four-page spread to see those photos.
