Notes Hawai'i was admitted to Statehood on August 21, 1959. The State Capitol buidling was opened on March 15, 1969. The cone-shaped Senate and House chambers symbolize the volcanoes of Hawai'i. The Sydney skyline and waterfront were compositied into the image, with most of the Honolulu skyline removed except for the Alakea Corporate Tower (horizontal stripes and triangular rooftop) at the corner of 1100 Alakea and Hotel Streets, and the building to its right. |
